Giveaway: Dream Jam Band CD

by Amanda in Uncategorized| 10 Comments

Have you heard of The Dream Jam Band? I never had until I was contacted by Shore Fire Media to help promote their new CD, Leave It in the Soup. Once I looked into it, I loved what I found.

The Dream Jam Band is a kids-targeted band that makes music parents and kids can enjoy together – very catchy, very classic rock inspired, but aimed at kids, with the goal of providing them with a positive introduction to the world of music.

CommonSense.org, a premier outlet for children’s media reviews (which I’ve promoted here before), praised the Dream Jam Band’s new album “Leave it in the Soup,” saying “It’s hard not to like the music on Leave It in the Soup…Each song is a bit of a surprise, not to mention a mini-lesson for kids in great music.”

The members of the band are Francine, Barry G, Maestro C, and Erin the Red…all music teachers AND entertainers.

The Dream Jam Band’s positive lyrics and bouncy rhythms cover a broad range of influences from The Beatles to Mozart, and Duke Ellington to Woody Guthrie. They span the spectrum of rock, pop, blues, hip hop, sing-a-longs and classical, reflecting the band’s belief that young children can synthesize musical ideas in a way that enhances learning.

Visit Parents.com for an interview with Francine Wheeler, singer in the band.

All songs on ‘ Leave It In The Soup’ are written by the band, played on 20 different musical instruments and produced by award-winning songwriter and producer Rick Chertoff (Cyndi Lauper, Joan Osborne, Ron Howard’s The Grinch).

Look for these songs on the CD:

  • “Have A Party When You Get The Blues” – an upbeat, sing-along rock tune
  • “I Can’t Tie My Shoes” – A Mozart-derived operatic ode to Velcro
  • “Bad Hair Day” featuring Maestro C on the saxophone

And be sure to check out these two new videos – both songs are from “Leave it in the Soup”:

Bad Hair Day

Also, FYI, the band’s first self-released album was named to NPR’s Top Ten Children’s and Family Albums List, won four Children’s Web Awards and received extensive airplay on kids’ programming across the USA.

I am so excited to tell you that Shore Fire Media is providing me with a  ‘Leave It in the Soup’  CD to giveaway to ONE reader. All you have to do is leave a comment. If you’ve heard of The Dream Jam Band, tell me what your favorite song is. If you’ve never heard of them, tell me what other kids’ favorites you have.

I will choose a winner via Random.org on Friday, July 23. All entries must live in the United States.

Disclosure: I did not receive any personal compensation, monetary or otherwise, to do this post. I so not own this CD and have only listened to the songs specified in this post. All information for this post came from Shore Fire Media and CommonSense.org.

This sounds great! All we have is a Little People CD for kids that drives me crazy! It would be nice to have something that parents can bop around with too!

I look forward to maybe hearing them! I usually have the radio on KLOVE, or we have a Kids’ Praise Music CD we listen to. My kids also enjoy the Odyssey CDs that are distributed by Focus on the Family. They are audio dramas, not music, though. We need more music!

We only have a couple of kids music CDs and it’s been a long time since we’ve added anything new. Our favorite is one by Jewel, which has lullabies. We would love to add this to our collection.

We listen to KLove a lot at home. This sounds great!

Since I live with a 7-year-old who has big dreams of being a rock star, you can imagine that music is playing around the house most of the time! New music is always a welcome….and well-played….thing in our house!

We mostly listen to K-LOVE. This would be great. Thanks.

We listen to a Clifford the Big Red Dog cd that I found at the Dollar Tree store. This would be great.

I’ve never heard of them but we have a point in the day where we blast the music and have a dance off in our living room. It’s such a great was to encourage exercise! Usually it’s to Oldies, but it would be fun to have something new and fresh! Thanks for the 2 great giveaways this week.

I heard them featured on NPR, but I haven’t purchased any of their music. I would love to play this for my son in the car.
