7 Unique Date Night Ideas in Oklahoma City

Take a Cruise

Take a public ferry on the Oklahoma River to explore Oklahoma City.

Also check out the Ferry Fun Cruises throughout the year with themes such as Bike & Ride where you bring your bike aboard and experience breathtaking urban and wetland views as you travel back to your car via bicycle.

The History Comes Alive Series on Saturdays from May 7 through August 13 features actors performing moments in Oklahoma’s history. Learn and have fun in comfort on the climate-controlled cruiser.

Theme Cruises depart after 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and have a full cash bar and complimentary snacks. Past themes include Disco and Margaritaville.

Looking for even more romance on the boat? Watch the sunset on a specialty sunset cruise with your significant other.

Whatever you’re looking for, a cruise on the Oklahoma River is sure to be a memorable date!

Climb a Grain Silo

Wait. . .what?

Climbing farm equipment doesn’t sound like a safe (or legal) date, but at Climb Up re-purposed grain silos make up a 12,000 square foot facility of climbing terrain perfect for individuals and couples at every level.

Locations are in downtown OKC and Norman. Orientation is required for new climbers, but there are also full climbing classes available for you and your darling date.

Not feeling daring enough to climb a boulder or a wall? Relax and try some yoga at the Norman location.

Get Scared

Thrills and chills mean holding onto each other for dear life, and what’s more romantic than that?

Visit The Sanctuary, a four-story repurposed warehouse that’s more than just a haunted house. Each floor has a different story to tell as you tour the fictional institution founded by “Charles Labrie” in 1873 and haunted by the fears and mistakes of his past.

Check out the calendar for themes each month, including the Tunnel of Love.

Tiptoe through the Tulips

Myriad Botanical Gardens helps you get in touch with nature and have a romantic date with your significant other.

Enjoy the intimacy of the scenic walking and jogging paths and behold the breathtaking indoor and outdoor horticultural displays.

A seasonal ice-skating rink also gives you another fun way to enjoy a unique date experience during the winter months.

Move to the Music

Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos gives you a chance to listen to some musical talent (both instrumentally and vocally) while giving your own requests. Performers even get the audience involved by “roasting” guests.

Special event? Want to give a shout out of love to your date? Get there early, put in a request, and wait for the fun to begin while you eat pizza, enjoy a signature cocktail, and sing along with dueling pianos!

Get Creative

Rated one of the top 10 things to do in Oklahoma City by TripAdvisor, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art not only offers exquisite exhibits of everything from Chihuly glass to traveling historical paintings, they also offer classes for aspiring artists.

Amateurs are welcome to try their hands (and mouths) at glass blowing and more!

Check out the schedule as class offerings change throughout the year.

Tour a Mansion

Henry Overholser, known as the “Father of Oklahoma City” left behind the historical mansion which was considered OKC’s first of its kind. The mansion is not just a home, it’s an architecturally sound work of art which hosts social gatherings throughout Oklahoma City.

Overholser’s wife left the home to the city upon her death and the mansion was officially listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1970.

Tours last approximately 35-35 minutes and are a great way to hold hands and look at some beautiful OKC history with your sweetie. Guided tours are on the hour (from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.) Tuesday-Saturday from February-December.

You’ll never be in a dating rut if you check out some of the unique experiences Oklahoma City has to offer with culture, entertainment, and nature! These unique date night ideas in Oklahoma City are sure to make you fall in love with OKC and your darling date.
