Blogging Insanity – Renewed Vision

by Amanda in Uncategorized| 10 Comments

I am subscribed by email to Blogging With Amy.  She recently wrote a post that really hit home with me. Let me tell you, I was able to answer yes to far too many of those questions. I affectionately call it “blogging insanity“  because I cringe and flinch when I call it what it really is….obsession, addiction, selfishness, pride.

OUCH!

I mean, it’s all good right? It’s good to have my own interests and hobbies. It’s good to serve others…to help you find the best deals so you can stretch your budget and be good stewards. It’s good to have goals, ambition, desires to be successful.

But I’ve realized that it’s very easy to get caught between the “good stuff” (mentioned above) and the “BEST thing” which is to honor God in all that I do. Honoring God means ministering to my family FIRST. Honoring God means He is fully present in every area of my life, this blog not to be excluded.

To be totally transparent, I’ve been convicted of this for quite some time. I’ve been caught up in the numbers, the deals, the desire to be the best. I’ve lost sight of the main reason this blog was started…to honor God.

Bringing you the deals in a timely manner isn’t bad. Desiring for this blog to be successful isn’t bad.  But more important, is that you’re inspired when you choose to spend part of your precious day at Simple Saving Savvy. And even more important is that this site never takes away from the BEST things.

So my vision has been renewed. I’m turning over a new leaf.

Don’t worry, you’ll still get lots of great deals here but you’ll also start seeing alot more meaningful content. And there may be days, when I only post a few deals because I’m busy spending time with my family and running my household.

With all that said, I covet your prayers. When you visit Simple Saving Savvy, I would truly appreciate it if you’d take a moment to commit this site to Him.

I commend your honesty about yourself and excitedly look forward to the shift in your vision for SSS!! From reading posts like this from you, I know that hanging out on SSS is where He wants me to be! :-)

You are such a blessing. Thank you for the deals but thank you for your commitment to the Lord above everything.

Aaa…i thought you were going to announce that you are going to stop blogging!!! (sigh of relief)
I do enjoy reading/watching your organizational tips. I actually used one of your tips – taking empty paper towel roll, stuffing with plastic bags and keeping in the car.
Looking forward to reading more~

What an honor it will be to pray for you. Thank you for reminding us of our roll in your life. We appreciate all you do for our family. Thank you for honoring God in your “best” with Him and enabling us to be with our “best” with Him. Prayers.

I do appreciate the time you put into your website….and more importantly the time you’ve given to God. Having the deals spelled out helps me to bring in many more deals than I did before. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is seemingly able to fill bag after bag of extra items from my pantry when I know someone needs help. My only problem lately is finding space for everything….so I just keep finding more people to help! Thanks for helping me serve God :)

How refreshing it is to hear you say you are putting the Lord first. Quite frankly it is why I always visit your site. Most other sites have similiar deals and I don’t live in your area so I don’t need it for grocery shopping. But I love your menu planning, intentional tips, and your love for the Lord! You have helped me in several areas which I appreciate very much. I didn’t have a Mom who put the Lord ,or us for that matter, first. I really didn’t have a clue as to how to manage a home and family. Through much prayer and picking up things from others such as yourself I am beginning to learn, but still have a long way to go. Thanks so much. Yes I will pray for you.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and affirmation. I feel like such a burden has been lifted in the past couple of days and the creativity is flowing! May God bless each and every one of you for your desire to serve and honor Him with your resources. And for your generosity toward others!

Way to go Amanda! While I don’t wish my blogging imbalance on anyone else, I do take comfort in knowing I’m not the only one who struggles with it. I hope this new season is one filled with many blessings for you and your family! :)
