Joe’s Addiction – Valleybrook

Joe’s Addiction is a coffee house located in SE Oklahoma City in an area known as  Valleybrook. This community is plagued by by homelessness, sickness, unemployment, drugs, prostitution, you name it.

The owners of the coffee house, John and Jamie Zumwalt,  are also pastors at Valleybrook Vineyard Church. They didn’t open Joe’s Addiction to make their fortune, but rather to create community and serve the many homeless and disadvantage families and individuals who live in the area .

The coffee shop offers all the traditional menu items but it  gives the community so much more. Everyday, the homeless are welcomed in out of the weather to play games, use the laptops, drink a free cup of coffee and even sometimes get a free, hot meal.

On the weekends, Joe’s turns into a Free Store. It’s like a thrift store, only everything is FREE. People and businesses in the community donate items and anyone in need can come get what they want.

Each week Joe’s Addiction gives away several bags of groceries to the needy. They also offer quite a few services during the holidays including a Thanksgiving dinner which is co-sponsored by Life Church. And around Christmas they organize a free toy store.

Joe’s also holds church services on Sunday and offers counseling sessions as needed.
